Selection Process
Maintaining anonymity throughout the process, submitted nominations are coded and screened for names or titles which may give unwanted clues to reviewers. The entries are then sorted into the appropriate category of practice. Each nomination is reviewed by specialized sub-committees of the Awards Committee. Sub-committee members represent seasoned professionals in each of the identified categories of nursing. Each individual reviewer scores the nomination, using criteria established for each category. The top scoring nominations are reviewed again by the Committee Coordinator. Finally, the three highest scoring nominations in each category are identified as finalists. These applications are then matched by their codes to the identity of the nominee. The highest scoring finalist is the reward recipient. The award recipients’ names are a closely held secret until the evening the Gala when the announcement is made during the presentation ceremonies.
